Dist:0.7km<br/>This is where the West Wales Line (and also the Heart of Wales line) crosses the Loughor estuary. The bridge was originally designed by Brunell and built in wood. The design remains but is now rebuilt in metal.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Loughor bridge marks the point where the river Loughor widens out into a wide estuary and is the ideal location for a crossing. This is the new bridge - the old bridge's location can be seen in the foreground where it would have crossed just in front of the new one (now disguised as a viewing area on the eastern bank). Just visible behind the new bridge is the railway bridge.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Afon Llwchwr yn ystod llanw isel ym mis Ebrill 1996. Noder bonau'r hen bont a dymchwelyd yn ystod y 1980au (?). Mae'n bosibl hefyd taw hwn oedd yr union fan lle bu'r Rhufeiniad yn rhydio'r afon. Lleolir y gaer Rufeinig 'Leucarum' ychydig llathenni i'r chwith yn llythrennol. Yn 1188 croesodd Gerallt Gymro yr afon yng nghwmni yr Archesgob Baldwin o Gaergrawnt yn ystod eu taith drwy Gymru yn ceisio dwyn perswad ar y Cymry i ymuno a'r Drydedd Groesgad. Yr afon wrth gwrs oedd yr hen ffin rhwng Siroedd Morgannwg a Chaerfyrddin. The Llwchwr (Loughor)River during low tide in April 1996. Note the stumps of the old bridge which was demolished in the 1980s (?). This may have also been the exact spot where the Romans forded the river. 'Leucarum' the name of the fort is literally only a few yards away. In 1188, Gerald of Wales, accompanied by Archbishop Baldwin of Canterbury, records crossing the river in their quest to enrol Welshmen to join the Third Crusade. The river of course was the former county boundary of Glamorganshire and Carmarthenshire
