This western entrance to the park is little used.

This part of the Grand Union Canal is actually the canalised River Brent, and the ground to the left is actually a small island formed by a loop of the river and the lock cut. Looking eastwards the M4 roars off towards London, ensuring that the peace which used to reign along the canal is now just a part of history.

The bridge numbering seems rather mysterious. The previous numbered bridge I have seen is 205a Trumpers Way, the next numbered one is 207 Gallows Bridge. And this bridge seems to just give access to the other side of the lock.

Dist:1.0km north<br/>Travelling from the Thames northwards this is the first of several lock keeper's cottages encountered when traversing the Hanwell Flight - 6 locks within 1/2 a mile, raising the water level by about 53ft.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Looking south from the very far north of the square, over London Underground's Piccadilly line depot between Northfields and Boston Manor stations. You can hardly see the actual line, which is in front of the depot. The unusual sight is that the depot is full of trains - this is Christmas day - the only day when the Underground is closed.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Boston Manor House, is a little-known treasure in West London. This fine Jacobean manor house was built in 1623. The house is set in parkland off the eponymous Boston Manor Road in Brentford. Quite a find in a square dominated by the elevated section of the M4.
