We want to train you to be a mentor or befriender to enable you to effectively support disabled people who have been made redundant. With your help, these individuals could become more independent, confident and find a new job. As a trained volunteer you can: • Offer emotional support to individuals • Be someone independent to talk to • Help individuals decide what to do next • Offer support and encouragement with finding another job Volunteers will be trained and supported by the Mentoring & Befriending Foundation and will also receive a contribution to their out of pocket expenses. You must be 18 or over and commit to the programme once a week for six months and no longer than 18 months. (In some exceptions shorter periods of volunteering may be arranged).
