Dist:0.4km<br/>An idyllic rural setting for All Hallows' church on the hill above Wold Newton, approachable only on foot and seen here surrounded by snowdrops in February. The church is by James Fowler in 1862 with an apsidal chancel and a wonderful bell-turret with spiralet. Architectural fragments scattered throughout, reputedly from Bardney Abbey and other dissolved religious houses in Lincolnshire. The font at least is Wold Newton original ... Decorated with an inscription recognising its donors.

Dist:0.4km<br/>All Hallows church is stranded above what remains of the present village, so this long path is the main access route. The ridge in the foreground marks the bank of the one time road, which is now just a footpath.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The churchyard at Wold Newton is one of those that is dominated by trees and appears rather gloomy. I feel this picture captures the atmosphere well.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This ancient carved stone, set in the porch of James Fowler's 1862 church, is not mentioned in Pevsner, though he does mention stone fragments, including one from Bardney Abbey.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The present bridleway was evidently the main thoroughfare at one time. The village all lies now on the lower road (apart from the church). The lumps and bumps in this field are suggestive of earlier habitations.
