Dist:0.4km north<br/>Church Street at junction Ridge Avenue (to left) and Village Road (to right). The discolouration here is not wear but simply dirt and can easily be wiped off. The sign shows a rare deviation from Worboy's rules as although it's of the recent post-1963 set with wide blue border it uses capital letters which were outlawed for all new signs. The only exceptions officially are when remaking old signs that have worn out and are replaced with modern copies. I have one here on Belmont Hill in Cheam and are probably only a few existing in the country as few councils appreciate the history.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>The interesting thing about this sign is it's the first I've seen with the road numbers in red. Of course they can use any colour paint they want on these but still quite unusual to see. Fingerposts however are still very prevalent outside urban areas as were exempted from removal in 1963. Situated on Village Road at the junction of Church Street, just in the far corner of Edmonton, London N9.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>This is the commemorative stone at this Architectural feature. Clarendon Arch is a barrel vaulted tunnel which carries the water from Salmon’s Brook below Bush Hill. The Brook’s source is near Hadley Wood on the Hertfordshire boundary from where it flows eastward below the New River, on the opposite side of Bush Hill and finally meets the River Lea at Edmonton. Originally the brook was spanned by a bridge and the “Bush Hill Frame”. This “Frame” was constructed between 1608 and 1613. In 1682 the bridge was replaced by an arch named after the then Governor of the New River Company, the Earl of Clarendon. This was commemorated by a carved ornamental keystone with an inscription. The arch was again rebuilt in 1725 and is now a statutory listed Grade II structure.
