Welcome to Whitton Park. This is a guide to the Whitton Park area.

The area is still referred to as Whitton Park. The Houses were built on what used to be Whitton Park and Whitton Park House (the mansion of the Gostling family). Whitton Park House was demolished in 1911 after the estate was sold for development.

This is the ex-LSWR station, later British Railways. The road bridge just west of the station carries Whitton Road, part of the B361 from Hounslow to Twickenham. Hounslow town centre is about half a mile north of this station, and is nearer to the London Transport station, Hounslow Central.

Tha badly-faded sign seems to depict a very early railway locomotive. I believe 'North Star' was the name of an early broad-gauge locomotive on the Great Western railway, so it would not have run in Hounslow, which was not reached by the railway until 1850, by which time locomotive design had progressed well beyond that of the machine depicted here.

This is the road that leads from Hounslow station to the town centre. The bus on Route 281 started from Hounslow Bus Station (close to Hounslow East LT station) and is destined for Tolworth Broadway.

Taken from Platform 2 this shows that only the Up platform (No 1) has a canopy.

Looking northeast from the London end of the station we see a long lattice-girder footbridge, which runs through from Maswell Park Road on the south side to Ivy Road on the north, but which cannot be accessed directly from either platform. Further on is a road bridge carrying Heath Road, an unclassified suburban road.

Looking west from the London end, this ives a good overall impression of this suburban station. One can actually travel to Waterloo from either platform here, as many of the Down trains return there via Twickenham and Kingston. Up trains reach Waterloo via Brentford.
