Dist:0.6km<br/>A view looking to the northeast across the Wellow Brook towards the viaduct at Shoscombe Vale. This 19th Century viaduct is constructed principally of blue engineering brick, and until the railway closed in 1966, carried the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway over the lane connecting Shoscombe Vale and Foxcote village. In 1988, operations were undertaken which involved partial demolition of the viaduct by removal of the principal and adjoining span across the lane.These would have been to the left of the image. At some later stage, the parapet has been removed on both sides. The viaduct is currently ( March 2007) for sale with planning consent for conversion into a single storey dwelling, and conversion works can be seen in some of the arches.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The lane drops to cross the Wellow Brook valley from the junction with St Julian's Road. The abutment 50 metres down on the right side of the lane is the base of an arch of [[359406]] which crossed the lane here. Foxcote was the location of "the only major accident to a passenger train that ever occurred on the Somerset & Dorset line" on 7th August 1876 - actually down the line to the right. http://www.sdjr.net/sd_radstock.html

The 10.20 Liverpool (Lime St.) to Bournemouth West is following 25 minutes behind the main train, headed by LMS Fowler 7F 2-8-0 No. 53807 piloting SR Bulleid Light Pacific No. 34040 'Crewkerne' (built 9/46 as 21C140, rebuilt 10/60, withdrawn 7/67).
