Dist:0.2km north<br/>This is the Croydon Steel Orchestra just moving up to the stage to compete in the National Panorama Championship in Notting Hill Carnival. See [[934759]] for a view of the previous band competing in Hyde Park. As well as the musicians on the lorry this band has a number of others with their drums on trolleys - they are visible ahead of the lorry.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>The National Panorama Championship is being held in Hyde Park on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday. Ten of the UK's top steel bands compete. Each arrives with the main part of its band on a lorry, which is driven up to the performance area. This photo is a general view with a band performing, CCTV images of it being shown on a big screen, and the audience having space to relax on the grass in the park.
