Dist:0.3km<br/>Tonacombe is "one of the best and most interesting Tudor mansions in the West of England" according to British Towns website http://www.british-towns.net/en/level_4_display.asp?GetL3=5456 , 1580 according to http://www.r-alston.co.uk/ch_eng.htm and mentioned in Pevsner - but walking through on the footpath what I saw was this imposing gateway and farm buildings.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Can a path get prettier? There are primroses and lesser celandines on grassy banks. This path from Tonacombe to Morwenstow crosses the narrow wooded valley of The Tidna. The National Trust coastal property which includes Hawker's Hut extends up the valley - this path enters NT land a few yards beyond this photo.
