Farmland north of the hamlet of West Newton, on the public footpath between West Newton Road and Fosham Road. The gap in the hedge up ahead is where the footpath crosses the parish boundary between Burton Constable and Aldbrough.

This row of eight semi-detached council houses pretty much doubled the population of the hamlet of West Newton when they were built in the mid 20th century. There were still fewer than twenty houses here in 1991.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This was once the village school serving the villages of Marton, West Newton and New Ellerby. It closed in 1984 due to the dangerous state of the building and has since been lovingly re-built and it a private house. The school entrance was in the single storey extension on the left hand side looking at the picture and the school rooms were behind the house. I remember the toilets were in a separate block in the playground and, in the early 1970s the garden of the house was completely enclosed by a tall hedge

Dist:0.6km<br/>The earliest free-standing Roman Catholic Chapel in the East Riding. Dating from 1789, it was built for William Constable of Burton Constable. The adjoining house predates the chapel and was used as a mass centre prior to the chapel being built.
