Dist:0.3km<br/>The pines make a welcome sight at this time of year when all other trees are bare. Beyond the trees is the site of the former manor and settlement known as Heighton St Clere which disappeared when the Gage family inherited both that and the one at Firle and decided to consolidate their gains into one building, Firle Place. The surrounding park necessitated the removal of the rest of the settlement along the lane that is now known as Heighton Street.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Viewed from the cricket ground the dip beyond the lone tree marks the old watercourse which once ran up to the edge of the village and was used to transport goods in and out. The stream was dammed a little to north of this point and turned into a series of fish stews.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The dip in the ground marks the location of a former watercourse that ran from the village to Glynde Reach and was used by the locals during the medieval period for transportation. The watercourse was dammed in the 17th or 18th century and now ends at a series of former fish stews that lie behind the trees to the right.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Georgian manor home to Gage family since the 15th century. Site of the original manor of Firle it was rebuilt in the 1550s for Sir John Gage, Vice-chamberlain to Henry VIII, who was able to profit from Dissolution by adding surrounding manors to his estate. The current house was constructed in the 1740s though it does retain some parts of the older Tudor mansion. To the right is St Peter's church which is on the eastern edge of the village. Taken from the footpath that crosses Firle Park from Heighton Street to the village.
