<br/>With typically six trains an hour in each direction on weekdays this is a very busy level crossing with frequent closures to road traffic. [[675396]] is in the distance with an up South West Trains train in the station and a down service bound for Dorking departing and about to cross over the level crossing.

<br/>The grubby white post against the bridge parapet is a boundary marker. It shows the boundary between the former Boroughs of Malden and Coombe to the left and Merton and Morden to the right. During the reorganization of local government in the 1960s, the former became part of the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames, and the latter became part of the London Borough of Merton. The current boundary between these Boroughs still follows the original line through the marker. The sign on the post on the left shows that you are entering the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. The road changes its name from Motspur Park to West Barnes Lane either side of the boundary post. The bridge carries the road over Beverley Brook.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>Motspur Park is on the line between Wimbledon and Epsom. This is the down platform. There are six trains an hour to Waterloo during ordinary weekday hours, at a scheduled 25 minutes for the journey.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>The sports ground become disused and was sold in 2005 to a developer who intended to build a leisure and fitness centre on the site. However local opposition to the proposed scheme was strong, and the latest plans (in October 2007) are suggesting that the sports ground could be turned into a cemetery. This is because planning regulations require the land to remain as a green space and a cemetery is one of the very few options now open to the owners. This is the clubhouse photographed through the gates to the site off the Motspur Park road.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>Houses built in the 1930's. Typical whitewashed pebble dashing of the area. Difficult to imagine that before the 1930's this area was woodland and grazing pasture for cattle. One of the farms in the area was owned by the Rayne family who gave their name to Raynes Park.

Dist:0.9km east<br/>A penstock is a sluice or gate that controls the flow of water. During a flood event these penstock gates, seen from within [[690771]], would allow stored flood water to gradually rejoin Pyl Brook, which is flowing on the other side of the embankment.
