Weldon Homepage


A tiny hamlet consisting of a few cottage and the Anglers Arms Pub. The bridge which can just be seen was built in the mid 18th century and is a grade 1 listed building and crosses the River Coquet famous for salmon fishing.

Dist:0.4km<br/>South of The river Coquet at Weldon Bridge. This Box sits neatly on (as far as I can tell) the 6o metre contour. Looking North you can see The Anglers Arms at Weldon Bridge to the right of the pill box. This box is part of the Coquet defence line and was constructed between 1940 and 1941. Dist:0.6km<br/>Well, not quite. The main road running left to right across the photo is the present A697. The road immediately in front of the camera and on the opposite (west) side of the A697 is the 'old' road which took traffic from Weldon Bridge up to Longframlington, and vice versa of course. The road that joins the present A697 from Weldon is a slip road. The No Entry signs are just visible.
