A reminder of the existence of Wannock Watermill which existed on this site from the late 16th century to 1918 and was demolished in 1956 to make way for this estate of bungalows. Viewed from the junction with Jevington Road.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Running through the small hamlet of Wannock with the village hall, built in 1974 to replace the former Jubilee Mission Hall constructed in 1887, on the right. The hamlet was marked as Walnut Street on both Yeakell & Gardner's 1783 map and the first OS issue of 1813. Although having been in existence for far longer it has now become a suburb of nearby Polegate.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The drive carries the footpath from Wannock to Folkington whilst another follows the nearside of the fence from here to Filching along the northern bank of Wannock Glen. Had to cross the stream by balancing on an old fallen tree as it was the only way across, the owner of the paddocks beyond had allowed me to climb over the fence to use her fields but warned me that this bit of water was knee deep across the bridge. The stream once powered a watermill that operated from the late 16th century to 1918, the buildings being demolished in 1956 and the millpond filled to make way for a housing estate.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Originally the B2105 but downgraded to the C40 sometime in the 1970s. The road originally linked Polegate with Friston through the small hamlsets of Wannock and Filching and the village of Jevington.
