Dist:0.5km<br/>18th Century folly built by the Marquis of Rockingham and likely to have been originally conceived as a hunting lodge. Situated a good 3 miles from Wentworth Woodhouse it would have probably have been overlooked by the estate in favour of nearer amenities and today the stand is in a fairly advanced state of decay. Originally a two storey structure, the top part of the winding staircase to the viewing platform can still be seen from inside the building.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The smartly painted facade of this pub sadly also shows how Ward's Brewery of Sheffield is a thing of the past. Brewing started on Eccleshall Road in 1840, being acquired by Ward's in the 1870s. The brewery was taken over by Vaux in 1972 and brewing ceased on 2nd June 1999. Their bitter was excellent, but now the name of Ward's is being painted out of history . . .

Dist:0.6km<br/>The old tower is Hoyland Lowe Stand, an 18th century folly built for Thomas Watson-Wentworth, 1st Marquess of Rockingham, and likely originally intended as a hunting lodge and tower. The stand is a Grade II listed building but is in a fairly advanced state of decay.
