As far as I know this was not built as a turnpike road, but from the Soothill (Batley Borough) boundary it goes straight across the valley and up the hill, no nonsense.

Seen from the footpath alongside Hey Beck. It looks as if the building was a group of cottages, but is now just one house, well guarded by dogs.

Dist:0.3km<br/>I think that this was part of an ancient through route that was superseded by the present Batley Road. It gives access to these houses but is only classed as a public footpath.
