Dist:0.2km north<br/>Wonderful to see cattle back on the Malvern Hills. An area on the western side of Black Hill has been temporarily fenced off (enclosed) by the Malvern Hills Conservators. In some ways this appears strange as the conservators were originally set up by act of parliament to stop the hills being enclosed.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>Looking southwards towards the Hereford Beacon. There is an uneasy peace between cyclists and walkers on the Malverns with the Conservators trying to accommodate both.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>Looking south to the Herefordshire Beacon hill fort. Very thick hoar frost has covered everything and created a fairyland. The hoar frost was so heavy that we later found that some trees had large branches broken off by the weight.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>The name Malvern is thought to derive from the Celtic, 'moel-bryn' meaning 'the bare hill'. Without the cattle roaming the hills, the trees are growing bolder and higher up the slopes and the bare hills are looking less bare.
