Dist:0.3km<br/>The Woodland Trust welcomes you to explore this area, called Big Round Green. In their excitement to do so someone has lost their hat. The area is a misnomer, it is small, triangular and mostly brown.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This was a mistake. We followed the bridleway, which for the most part is a sunken track that gets no sunlight because of overhanging trees. Because it has been well used by horses it was very muddy. This was one of the better bits. Next time we will follow the walk instructions and use the footpath.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Photo looking west. The trig point is at 161 metres, not the top of the hill which goes up to 170 metres within the woods. But this narrow ridge still has a view to the east. Presumably when it was installed the wood to the west had not grown up, or was cleared sufficiently to get a view through.

Dist:0.9km<br/>One of those tractors that will not be going anywhere, or doing an more useful work, is parked at the farm entrance.

Dist:1.0km<br/>In this part of the wood the ground is very irregular with hollows. The Woodland Trust website http://www.wt-woods.org.uk/cowcroftwood/description.asp tells us that these are the remains of mineral workings associated with nearby brickworks.
