I lived in one of these houses from 1983 to 1987. They were built in the grounds of the former vicarage of St James Church. The Church Commissioners put restrictions in the deeds, such as not being allowed to turn them into pubs.

In 1983, when I first moved to Horsforth, there was a small local garage here. Later that year it was taken over by the Carnell group, which became part of the Dixon Motor Group in 1997. Dixon went into receivership in July 2007, and this site was taken over by Evans Halshaw, who already occupied the adjacent site - see [[[819384]]]
