5 days after the last snow, and plenty remains in Cragg Wood. The muddy area is usually a well-used path, but the passage of feet hasn't removed all the snow. [[[406184]]] shows the area just to the left of this picture, in warmer weather.

Dist:0.1km<br/>There's not much that can be picked to eat at the moment - the old runner beans on the left are too old. Some vegetables available at this time of year are Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbages, perpetual spinach, leeks and parsnips

Dist:0.1km<br/>I've just taken over one of the allotments, and this elderly shed forms part of it. Picturesque and still usable despite the ivy growing inside and out.

Dist:0.1km<br/>The traditional rule of thumb for garlic is plant it on the shortest day, harvest it on the longest. I planted mine a couple of days after Christmas, and it's doing well for harvesting in late June or early July. The weeds on the left have been cleared, cabbages and cauliflowers will be planted there soon.

Dist:0.1km<br/>I've just taken over an allotment here - unfortunately not one of these neat and tidy ones, but one a little further along that is full of weeds. The houses in the background are at the north-west end of Jackman Drive.
