Dist:0.5km<br/>Dedicated to St Winwaloe, a 6th century Breton saint. The church is thought to have been built on the site of a Celtic hermitage. Of particular note is the stumpy tower, built in 1500, although the church has Norman origins. See http://www.towednackchurch.org.uk/ for more information. This is the view from the west, approaching on a footpath. The church is some distance from Nancledra, the main village that it serves.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This is a typical Cornish stile, consisting of large pieces of granite separated by deep gaps that would trap any sheep or cow, and some humans. The footpath leads across pastures towards Towednack church.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The inscription reads "The roadway was constructed and presented to the parish of Towednack by Sir Edward Hain, Lord of the Manor, 16 November 1914". At the time when the discussion would have been all about the war being over by Christmas. The road leads to the church. It is interesting that it seems that at one time the gateway actually had a gate. I wonder if it was ever closed?

Dist:0.7km<br/>This pasture is on the edge of open access land that leads towards Trendine Hill [[SW4738]] seen on the horizon. However, access is difficult from this side.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Although this track allegedly leads to open access land there is no way through here. If I had fallen into one of the holes concealed in the bracken I'd still be there now, so I beat a circumspect retreat.
