In early March 2006 Arctic winds brought the deepest March snowfall seen in Aberdeen since 1958. This was one of two igloos built by residents of the former fishing village of Footdee.

A Panamanian registered geophysical research vessel, operated by Fugro Survey Limited of Aberdeen, with vessel management being provided by Fugro Marine Services BV from the Netherlands. Fugro Survey AS is part of the Fugro Offshore Survey Division which is located in Oslo and Bergen in Norway and which works mainly on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, Denmark, Sweden and in the Baltic Sea.
