Dist:0.5km<br/>This centuries old Tithe Barn and the land surrounding it was bought by Portsmouth Football Club for development as a training ground. There is a Planning Application to develop the whole area with various pitches and other facilities. I believe that there are quite a few objections to their plans. No doubt there are a few newts that need rehousing as well.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The abbey was founded in 1232 but was demolished in Henry VIIIs "Dissolution of the Monasteries". The three-storied Tudor gatehouse remains, and with its impressive battlemented turrets, is still a very remarkable ruin. Henry VI was married in the abbey (to Margaret of Anjou) and Charles I had his final night of freedom here too.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Titchfield Abbey is a medieval abbey that was founded in 1222 for Premonstratensian canons, an austere order of priests. Titchfield was closed in 1537 by Henry VIII of England during the Dissolution of the Monasteries and the building was converted into a mansion by Thomas Wriothesley, a powerful courtier. In 1781 the abbey was abandoned and partially demolished to create a romantic ruin. The remains were purchased by the government in the early twentieth century and are now a Scheduled Ancient Monument under the care of English Heritage.
