Dist:0.3km<br/>Because commercial grazing of Tiptree heath ended in the 1930’s scrub and secondary woodland began to colonise the site choking out the rare heathers on the largest fragment of lowland heath left in Essex. The Friends of Tiptree Heath http://www.tiptreeheath.co.uk/ and Essex Wildlife Trust http://www.essexwt.org.uk/visitor_centres__nature_reserves/tiptree_heath// have now fenced off parts of the common, cleared the scrub and re introduced grazing. The results can be seen here, and closer inspection shows the heather is beginning to grow again.

Now management has passed to Essex Wildlife Trust http://www.essexwt.org.uk/visitor_centres__nature_reserves/tiptree_heath/ and the Friends of Tiptree Heath.
