The big house just right of centre is Low Nook. Thringarth Farmhouse, in front to its left, dates from around 1840 and is a Listed Building http://www.keystothepast.info/durhamcc/K2P.nsf/K2PDetail?readform&PRNMAP=D13234 The large forest plantation of Brownberry is on the hillside above the reservoir.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Wester Beck passes under the road to the photographer's right, and gurgles merrily before crossing under the entrance track of Brock Scar to head down to Grassholme Reservoir visible in the distance. On the horizon at the right of the photo, the group of trees is Kirkcarrion, the site of a bronze-age burial, and a landmark visible over a wide area around Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Dist:0.6km<br/>As befits its name, the tiny hamlet of Rigg sits on the crest of a small ridge overlooking Lunedale. The barn is one of many passed on this stretch of the Pennine Way, sadly abandoned and now unroofed.
