Ethel Gordon Fenwick was an important figure in the professionalisation of nursing in the United Kingdom. After decades of struggle she was registered as Nurse No 1 when registration was introduced in 1923. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethel_Gordon_Fenwick . Her grave is to the east of St. Helena's church.
