Dist:0.1km<br/>From the gate for the next half mile, the footpath runs on a narrow strip of land between the River Severn (on the right) and a large lake in a former claypit. The lake is popular with anglers. The notice on the gate is headed 'Birmingham Anglers Association, Private Fishing' and advises that non-members will be prosecuted (presumably only if they are fishing!).

Dist:0.2km<br/>This bridge provides access via a footpath to Shuthonger Common. The railway used to link Great Malvern with Tewkesbury, however, the line closed in the early 1960s (earlier between Upton-upon-Severn and Malvern), pre Dr Beeching.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The western end of Shuthonger Common end abruptly with this steep earth bank, below the bank is the course of the dismantled Tewkesbury to Upton-upon-Severn railway which closed pre-Beeching in 1961.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The course of the former railway between Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn, pictured here below Shuthonger Common. The line was never financially viable and closed pre-Beeching to passengers on 14 August 1961, goods were carried until 1 July 1963. Originally the link continued through to Great Malvern, however, the line between Great Malvern and Upton-upon-Severn closed on 1 December 1952.
