The River Teme forms the boundary between Worcestershire and Shropshire. The older, narrower part of the bridge can just be seen through the arches. In 1908 the two county authorities co-operated to widen the bridge on this nearer, downstream side.

The river Teme has just about gone down to something like its normal level following the great floods of 2007 but note the debris still clinging to the fence.

It is only October - Christmas is two months away. The town is celebrating the fruit harvest with its AppleFest yet the Christmas lights are already up. The photo is taken from the Teme Bridge which visitors to the town might consider is in the middle of the conurbation. The river is the boundary between Shropshire and Worcestershire. The lights are a political statement, unmistakably reminding us just where we are.
