These two stores represent the earlier stages of the centre's growth. Asda was the first stage; the store was originally owned by Carrefour. Debenhams was built later when the centre expanded. The picture is taken from the Inner Ring Road.

Following the May 2011 council election, the party now in power is reviewing this and says that the hundreds of millions of pounds involved might be better spent elsewhere - or not spent at all. This sea of mud may become a permanent feature. [[2408098]] (centre) remains.
