Dist:0.2km<br/>The second day of the 2009 Great Dorset Steam fair was greeted by bright blue skies but very wet underfoot. The entrance to the Tarrant Hinton car park was a sea of mud, but by the end of the day dust was blowing of the fields and the journey out was low key.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A lot of spinning and frustration for delivery drivers to the 2009 Great Dorset Steam Fair. Conditions on the internal tracks were a shade sticky on the second morning, so a lot of towing was required. Given that apart from a few main internal roads are hard surfaced, the rest of the site is arable fields turned over for a couple of weeks preparation for the show and four days for the event and then a few days to clear back to arable fields again.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Late 17th century milestone erected by the Harnham, Blandford and Dorchester Trust. The legend reads Blandford 4 / Sarum 18. Milestones did not come into general use until the Turnpike Act of 1766 made them compulsory on turnpike roads, these roads were built by private enterprise under licence from the Government and maintained by tolls on those who used them. Before this Act milestones were put up occasionally, often as charitable acts and commemorations. Many Turnpike Act stones still exist. They are usually 2-3 ft high, with the initial letter or abbreviation of the nearest market town shown on two faces, and the distance from it.
