This is quite a large churchyard with a number of interesting gravestones. The church is an imposing building and a prominent local landmark.

Tarbolton Parish church was built in 1821 by Robert Johnston and stands on the site of a medieval church which is known to have existed in the fourteenth-century.

This fine old stone shows symbols of the immortality of the deceased and the mortality of the living. Unfortunately, the other side is too weathered to find the details of the person who is buried here.

The information plaque shows that Manson's Inn, which housed the Masonic Lodge, used to stand here. Robert Burns presided over the Lodge from 1784 to 1788.
