Dist:0.2km<br/>This field, named Nitten Field, has been an 8 year set-aside project (funded by the Countryside Council for Wales and The Gower Society) and implemented by locals and a local farmer, its aim to support over-wintering birdlife. The 3 acre field has been sown with barley, dwarf sunflower, linseed, kale, kale hybrid and chicory strips - food for migrating and native birds such as finches. The project seems successful, attracting greenfinch, goldfinch, chaffinch, yellowhammer, various pipits, skylark, reed bunting, brambling and the more familiar sparrows. Bonuses have been a rise in butterfly and insect life too, along with a booming vole population and linked in, rises in numbers of grass snakes, slow worms and adders in the field margins. Every village should have such a project!

Dist:0.7km<br/>The hole in the ground in the foreground is known as The Red Chamber. The footpath crosses an overhang whilst the waves crash beneath. This footpath is not for the faint-hearted. The rocks in the background are Thurba Head. Climbing them is not to be advised in windy weather as there is a sheer drop of a couple of hundred feet into the waters of Mewslade Bay beyond what you can see here.
