Dist:0.2km<br/>Sometimes called The Old Bush Inn, presumably to distinguish it from the nearby Old Bush public house in Swindon Road Hinksford. It used to be a pub owned by the Dudley brewers Julia Hanson & Sons. They were taken over by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries (now known as Marston's) in 1943, but in the early 1990's the Dudley brewery was closed and production transferred to Wolverhampton. The pub still has a lot of Hansons signage outside. [[2854311]].

Dist:0.2km<br/>The population of the Staffordshire village of Swindon is about 1400, so it is fortunate to have a handful of shops plus three public houses, and other facilities, which many villages of similar or larger size have lost. The shops in this parade are Smiths (fish & chips), Swindon Bakery, Amathus Unisex Hair Design and Londis, a convenience store including a post office.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A narrowboat on its way towards Wombourne is leaving the lock while Grandma looks on, no doubt anticipating her tasty lunch in The Green Man (recommended) a short while later. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal was opened in 1772, engineered by James Brindley. It joins the River Severn at Stourport to the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood Junction in Staffordshire. There are 43 locks (45 if you don't fancy the deep wide locks at Stourport) and the canal is 46 miles in length.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Narrowboat "Perfik", on its way towards Kinver and Stourport, is in one of the forty-five narrow locks on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. The gate is being closed prior to emptying the water out of the chamber. The canal opened in 1772, engineered by James Brindley.
