Dist:0.4km<br/>This photograph shows a view of Scugdale Beck as it flows in a north-westerly direction towards Potto. This picture was taken looking in a south-easterly direction towards Scarth Wood Farm. The spire of Holy Cross church can just be seen in the left-hand side of the picture.

Dist:0.4km<br/>I always thought bluebells were a woodland species but this display, on the open slope of Whorlton Castle has delighted travellers on the A172 for years.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Although similar to Stephen's photo of the same bridge taken in April [[[396409]]] I have included this to give some idea of the growth in vegetation over the summer. Indeed an idential shot from Stephen's position would show very little of the bridge. The railway operated from 1857 to 1885 and serviced the Ailesbury mines in Scugdale supplying ore to Stockton ironworks.

Dist:0.5km<br/>T H Wyatt was commissioned by the Marquis of Ailesbury to design the Church, It is in the Early English style and constructed of locally quarried stone. The Church was consecrated on October 4th, 1877.
