Dist:0.0km north<br/>Surrey Quays is on the East London Line in Rotherhithe near Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and Southwark Park. The next station to the north is Canada Water, and to the south it splits into two branches, which lead to the southern termini, New Cross Gate and New Cross. The East London Line Project is planned to extend and upgrade the existing line, converting it into a new metro-style (National Rail) train service, with services that will ultimately extend North to Highbury & Islington, South to West Croydon and West to Clapham Junction.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>In 1979 the landscape of south-east London was changing fast as old industrial premises were being demolished to make way for new development. In this picture the old South Metropolitan gas works can be seen in the right background, while the building being demolished will make way for a new football ground for Millwall FC to replace their old ground at Coldblow Lane, not far away.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>The bleak South Bermondsey station, photographed from a train between New Cross Gate and London Bridge. This station is still open in 2007, but the lines which pass beneath the girder bridge, which went to the Bricklayer's Arms goods depot, have long gone.

Dist:0.7km south<br/>The beams of this new bridge were erected over the weekend of 12/13 April 2008, replacing [[632856]]. The road gets its name from the 19th century canal that it replaced.
