Dist:0.4km north<br/>This section of the A406 North Circular is Gunnersbury Avenue. It is a "red route" - no stopping allowed. The houses are mainly detached, and built in the 1920s or 1930s.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>The Italian Garden was restored in the mid 1990s. Climbing wisteria and clematis; box hedges; beds planted with lavender, irises etc; deep circular pool with camomile lawn and stone pedestal at centre.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>Gunnersbury Park has beautiful landscaping. Unfortunately this includes pathways immediately alongside a lake. After recent freezing weather, the council has put up ugly orange netting to stop people venturing onto the ice. Unfortunate that this wrecks the view.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>The Temple was built c.1750 and may have been designed by William Kent. This view is from the North rear side of the Temple. Beyond the Temple you can just see the Round Pond, to the South. The Temple was restored in 1975 with the help of the Temple Trust. The Italian Garden was restored in the mid 1990s.

Dist:0.5km east<br/>This is the smaller of the two children's playgrounds, and is designed for very young children. The park cafe is on the right, looking towards the Round Pond and golf course.

Dist:0.6km east<br/>This is the North side of The Small Mansion, viewed from Popes Lane across the entrance drive. Taken during peak spring blossom time. There are two mansions in Gunnersbury Park, deriving from two large estates; the Small Mansion is used as an arts centre, and the Large Mansion houses the Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Dist:0.6km east<br/>As part of a restoration project in the mid 1990s, this display of rose baskets was planted, inspired by Gunnersbury Park garden layouts from its glory years around 1900. Each rose basket has a rim of ivy, a handle of small climbing roses, and a bed of later flowering miniature shrub roses. There are four neat rows, each of six baskets.

Dist:0.7km east<br/>This Regency mansion was built at the beginning of the 19th Century. The small mansion and large mansion were separately owned until the Rothschild family united them in 1889. There are nine Grade II and II* listed buildings in the park, but unfortunately many are crumbling and on the English Heritage buildings-at-risk register. At present part of the small mansion is used as an arts centre, but Hounslow Council has given notice to terminate this use.

Dist:0.7km east<br/>In 1760, the Gunnersbury House and Estate were purchased for Princess Amelia, favourite daughter of George II, and also from 1751 the Regent of Richmond Park. She landscaped Gunnersbury Park in the 18th century style, and at this time outdoor bathing was very fashionable. This photograph shows the front of the bathhouse - to the rear is an outdoor bathing grotto, rustic, rocky and overgrown; and in the basement of the building an indoor grotto.

Dist:0.7km south<br/>View looking North, with the houses of Pope's Lane beyond the park. The park is heavily used for organised sports. The Hounslow Leisure and Cultural Services website (http://hounslow.info/page.aspx?pointerid=D987EF95082F490480E56DD491540E52) tells us there are 2 play areas, 2 rugby pitches, 1 cricket square, 1 lacrosse pitch, 20 football pitches, 15 tennis courts, a bowling green and a pitch 'n putt golf course.
