Dist:0.4km north<br/>Half way up the left side of the grid square, looking south towards Hackney. This bridge crosses the River Lea taking the Lee Valley Pathway across the Lea connecting Waltham Forest with Hackney. It is also on route 1 of the Sustrans National Cycle network. It is supposed to look like a leaf opening! Pity about the graffito.

Dist:0.6km west<br/>Half way up the right side of the grid square, in the middle of the nature reserve. From this reservoir water was pumped by a steam engine to East London.

Dist:1.0km west<br/>Taken just north of the centre of the grid square looking West, on the NW side of the Lea Bridge Road and the SW side of the Lea Navigation. (There is a Millfields Park (South) on the SE side of the Lea Bridge Road)

Dist:1.0km west<br/>In fact, there are 2 bridges, one a footbridge (nearest) and also the road bridge. I don't know what the large pipes in the foreground are for. The green signs nearby refer to a London wide network of footpaths; the Capital Ring and the Lea Valley Walk.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>The strip of land between the Lee Navigation and the River Lea (or Lee) is known as Hackney Marsh. It has been drained and maintained and now provides a large number of football pitches as well as other recreational facilities. It is particularly colourful on Sunday mornings when all the pitches are in use.The level of the marsh was supposed to have been raised by dumping debris from bombed buildings in the east end.

Dist:1.1km south<br/>This view is looking north at the Homerton Road bridge over the Lee Navigation, with the former Lesney Matchbox toy factory beyond. The towpath on the right has been recently renovated to provide an enjoyable route for pedestrians and cyclists along the Lea Valley. (The use of different vowels in Le? is as official usage !)
