This must be one of the very few, if not the only one, stations which can be accessed by D.L.R., B.R., and the Underground. Here are a D.L.R. train and an Underground unit, together.

When this picture was taken, neither name nor platforms were in use, although the train indicator display (the back of which can be seen far right) was already advertising the correct North London Line departures. This is indeed where the said service will shortly be terminating (the change should already have happened before the date of this picture), replacing the terminus at the low level platforms [[1128393]]. These will then be taken over by the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) service from Canning Town (and beyond) to Stratford International, the new station serving the high speed line to Eurotunnel and the Olympics site.

A Cravens DMU departs under the wires from Stratford station past the signal box. These units usually provided services to Gospel Oak and North Woolwich. They were generally uncomfortable for passengers and, as evidenced by this example, could produce a lot of pollution!

Earlier this month, two new platforms were opened at Stratford for Overground trains comin from and going to Richmond. The new platforms are at the extreme north of the station, and are less convenient for most interchanges than the ones previously used. The new platforms have taken the numbers 1 and 2, the same as the old ones which are now disused and awaiting new Docklands tracks. This photograph shows unit 313 110 at Platform 2.

Looking north-northwest. This section of DLR (the tracks on the right) opened in September 2011 and follows the alignment of the old Stratford-North Woolwich line served by Silverlink trains until it was closed in 2006. However, this section of the DLR ends at Canning Town to join the already existing DLR branch (meaning that the Canning Town-North Woolwich section of the line is still derelict) and the Stratford end of the line has been extended to pass under the main station concourse to Stratford International.
