Stockton's last remaining element of heritage as a port. The bridge is the Princess of Wales Bridge or the Diana Bridge and was opened in 1992. The ship which is permanently moored is the minesweeper HMS Kellington, the headquarters of Stockton Sea Cadets.

Dist:0.1km north<br/>The junction of Bishopton Lane with the north end of the High Street has been known as Maxwell's Corner since E S Maxwell acquired the business of John Peckton, tailor, outfitter, hatter, hosier and glover, in 1913.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>On Smith Street. I have lived near Stockton for 29 Years and Have never noticed this example of a bow fronted Georgian house. This part of Stockton is mainly car parks and truncated old roads.

Dist:0.2km north<br/>This building has been unused since 1996 when it had been a bingo hall since 1978. It was built in 1936 as a variety theatre with 2400 seats but was brought by ABC a year later and used principally as a cinema but also with stage productions, an annual pantomime and pop concerts until June 1974. In 1978 it became a bingo hall. It was actually the third theatre/cinema built on this site. The first was a 500 seater known as the Globe and demolished in 1925. This was replaced by a 1200 seater which closed in 1935.

It is heading in the direction of Eaglescliffe - the next station for south-bound trains. The picture was taken looking in a north-north-easterly direction towards Billingham Beck Valley Country Park.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>The elaborate white building on the left is the former Paradise Row Primitive Methodist Church, Paradise Row being the name of this section of Church Road. The church operated from 1866 to 1947.
