Dist:0.4km north<br/>This municipal cemetery is operated by the London Borough of Hillingdon, and is on Shepiston Lane, not Cherry Lane. Cherry Lane itself still exists, but now terminates to the west at the A408 roundabout. Presumably before the current roads were built, Cherry Lane extended further eastwards. The notice boards outside call the cemetery Cherry Lane Burial Ground. It is less than 3 kilometres away from the Heathrow Airport Terminals 1, 2, & 3 complex.

Dist:0.6km west<br/>Built in the 1940s to accommodate the children from the large council housing estate built on the site of cherry orchards, from which Cherry Lane gets its name. Little changed externally since I was a pupil some 50 years ago!

Dist:0.7km south<br/>A late mediaeval building, formerly a hall house, Grade II listed. Together with all of Sipson village this is due to be demolished if the construction of Heathrow's third runway goes ahead. There is a very strong movement against the runway development and a one acre field behind the pub has been purchased by protesters with a view to selling it off as 4000 individual plots in order to frustrate the compulsory purchase procedure.

Dist:0.7km south<br/>This chapel is on the corner of the junction of Sipson Lane with Sipson Road. The 1881 Ordnance Survey map does not show any building here at all, but there are records of a Salvation Army Hall from 1891 and a Baptist Church from 1907 on this site. The larger building in the distance and some of the nearer lower part have been converted into residential use, but Sipson Christian Fellowship occupy the nearer end of the lower part. The 1881 map shows Sipson as a small community surrounded on all sides by orchards. The whole village is threatened by the plans for a possible third runway at Heathrow Airport.

However Sipson's 700 homes, shops, pubs, small businesses and school will be buried under taxiways, terminals, concourses and car parks by 2020 if this year's government review of its 2003 Aviation White Paper approves a Third Runway at Heathrow Airport.
