Dist:0.3km<br/>And well turned out sir if I may say so. "STANTON PRIOR, a parish in the hundred of Keynsham, county Somerset, 9 miles E. of Bristol, its post town, and 6 S.W. of Bath. The parish, which is of small extent, adjoins that of Stanton Drew. The manor formerly belonged to Bath Priory. On an eminence called Stanton Bury is a camp, extending over 30 acres, and 180 yards in length on one side. It is situated at a little distance from the Wansdyke, and commands extensive views. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £182. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, is an ancient structure." Dist:0.5km<br/>The best description I can think of for Stanton Prior is 'small but perfectly formed.' This was taken from the eastern edge of the village though barely 100 yards from its centre. Stantonbury Hill stands in the background with its top hidden by a mixture of trees.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The camera points almost directly to Stanton Prior but it is hidden behind the hill. Not hidden is Lansdown which lies in the background, also Kelston Round Hill to the left. This image could be stitched together with [[[1749238]]] to make a grand panorama but I prefer them as they are.
