Streatlam Close is just off the road through the village and whilst not quite the same as a single row of houses along the road, it seems like classic ribbon development nonetheless, as it extends the habitations on the north side of the road further east in a village which is already elongated east-west along a single road. Although red roofs are not typical of older properties in the area, there do seem to be quite a few others in Stainton.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This paddock lies between the road through the village and some modern houses. There was also a sheep in the paddock.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This well kept footpath leaves the village to head behind Stainton Hill Farm. It is clean but popular with dog walkers.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The footpath does not go through this very tidy farm, but goes to the right of all the buildings. Can you see the horse in the field beyond, making the most of the evening sun?

Dist:0.6km<br/>This barn is just south of the village and seems in good condition compared with many in the area, retaining its flagstone roof with little or no sag in the beams.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Coming south, the path enters the farm here, but then goes through the little gate to the right of the big gate to go behind the wall and all the farm buildings. Look out for it, it is not immediately obvious.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This building is in use as an industrial unit. It dates from the 1940s and is typical of many at the former Stainton Camp.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Although on the edge of the same field as [[1604066]], this barn has clearly been derelict for a long time, all the roof having gone, leaving rotting timbers and trees which have had time to grow up above the old roof level. There's a stone trough in the field, for the animals, but it seems a little superfluous in this very wet autumn, as the field has standing water, despite being on a slope.
