The southern terminus of the Blackpool tramway system. I have been told that, at one stage of its career, it did actually go further in this direction (Lytham?)

Dist:0.2km<br/>The sand which can be seen in this view is actually over the Blackpool Borough boundary, and in the Fylde District of Lancashire. On the left is the start of the sand dunes, which run along the coast south from here for a considerable distance.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Ex-Bolton car No 66. In Bolton, letters were used instead of route numbers, and 'D' as displayed on the car here, stood for 'Doffcocker'. Most of the letters were mnemonic, such as 'O', used for 'Orwich'!

Dist:0.2km<br/>Brush car No 636 waits at the Starr Gate terminus ready for another run to Fleetwood. Until some time in the 1950s, Starr Gate terminus was referred to as 'Clifton Drive', which was not a good name, as Clifton Drive is a long road and for the other end of it, you would be better getting off at Pleasure Beach.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The southern end of the Blackpool to Fleetwood tramway. Here car 636, one of the original streamlined single deckers from the 1930s, is seen bound for Fleetwood. The car is restored in the attractive Blackpool Corporation livery used during WW2 and afterwards.

Dist:0.2km<br/>No 724 is one of several 'Balloon' trams that have been rebuilt in a flat ended form as shown. On Tuesdays, double-deck cars operate the Fleetwood service, as it is Market Day at the latter town.
