Dist:0.1km<br/>Possibly the base and part of the shaft of a medieval cross which formerly stood in the south of Sproatley village (although the carvings are not medieval). It is thought to have been removed to the rectory-house garden by the 1840s before being placed in the churchyard at St. Swithin's. More stonework from this or another similar cross is said to be still at the former rectory.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Little is known about the medieval church which was built in the early part of the 12th century and dedicated to St. Swithin by the early 13th century. Its steeple was recorded in 1552 and the chancel was rethatched in the 1660s and repaired in 1670. In general the building seems to have been poorly maintained and one of the curates, Joseph Hatfield, had the small 'much decayed' building demolished in December 1819 and the new one built which was completed in 1820. The new church was apparently dedicated to All Saints but by 1840 it seems once again to have become known as St. Swithin's. Most of it was taken down and rebuilt yet again in 1885-86.
