Dist:0.2km<br/>This was the first time the A380 Airbus had come to Bristol where parts of the wings and engine had been made at Airbus and Rolls Royce respectively. It did 3 circuits over to the Clifton Suspension Bridge (to pay a tribute to Brunel) and back upto the Filton Airfield where the staff were all out to watch. The plane then went on to Heathrow. As the wings are 262 feet long, it is too large to land at either of the airports in Bristol. It was quiet even though it was flying quite low.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Henleaze Lake is an old quarry that was abandoned and then flooded in the early 20th century. It is now owned and used by a swimming club and part of it is also used by fishing club.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The lack of foliage allows a clear shot from this vantage point above the lake, from the gardens of Lakewood Road. Given the general mildness of the Bristol climate, the complete freezing over of the lake has been a rare event. (See also photo 2191841 for a summer time view of the lake)

Dist:0.4km<br/>Now it appears to be a training centre for Southmead Hospital, but originally this was Barton Regis Union Workhouse. This was the Master's house and the inscription reads "This Foundation Stone was laid by Her Grace The Dowager Duchess of Beaufort On the Eighteenth Day of September 1900"
