The island platform of [[225953]] with a local train bound for Dorridge. Although the suburb itself is spelt with an apostrophe, the station name does not have one in any context I have seen.

Showing the old second island platform before it was demolished to make way for a car park - there had for many years been muted ideas of relaying the tracks to improve services, but never came to anything. Also notice the boarded up entrance on left to footbridge - this side of station was then used by a local merchant.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Road bridge entrance to Acocks Green Station. Notice the bus stop (11 'Outer Circle') for buses into village). The right-hand section of station at this time was used exclusively by a 3rd party company. The second island platform that was here at the time has since been removed and is car-park accessed from this side of station. Notice also, the old white-on-blue station name place, replaced more recently by the awful Centro / white-on-red sign. See [[[225953]]] for same location today.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Building on corner of Sherbourne Road, Oxford Road, Station Road and Dudley Park Road was a Doctors Surgery for many years. Now a day-nursery, the doctors relocated onto Dudley Park Road nearby. The junction was particularly well-known locally for road traffic collisions, having 2 left turns travelling left-to-right, and a one-way system down Station Road. Note - Station Road (off to right) does not go to the station. Instead Sherbourne Road (where photo is taken from) extends off to the left up to the station.

Dist:0.4km<br/>On Warwick Road, in centre of AG village, opposite shops. The Catholic Church had its own secondary school on connected land behind. At time of this photo, the land to the right had been sold and awaiting development of large supermarket. I regularly attended this church in my teens/early 20s, and my father (Eric Westley) was a volunteer tutor at the junior school opposite (having retired early as teacher from Moseley School).

Dist:0.5km<br/>Public House on Warwick Road, alongside junctions with Victoria Road and Oxford Road. The pub has since been demolished and replaced with an Aldi foodstore. This was the last pub before Warwick Road dropped down towards Olton 'Hollow'. The road sign for station / car park is directing traffic down Oxford Road, to station and car park off Roberts Road. Oxford Road allows cars wishing to join outer ring road towards Yardley and avoiding AG village centre. See also [[[2222040]]]

Dist:0.5km<br/>An M&B Public House, almost opposite Oxford Road, between Victoria Road and Dolphin Lane. Since demolished, this substantial plot of land is now the home of Aldi (food supermarket). See also [[[2222134]]]
