Dist:0.3km<br/>Viewed from the Green Lane bridge. On Barcombe's 1839 tithe map this was three fields; Old Furze Field, Upper Caveridge Mead and Lower Caveridge Field and was being used for agricultural purposes. By the 1875 OS map the first quarrying had already started and has continued to the present day. The area here belongs to the clay belt of the Weald and has provided raw material for bricks on Chailey's South Common since the early 18th century.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Small estate built after the Second World War in an already cleared area within Kiln Wood known as Little Kiln Field on the 1839 tithe map. The houses to the right were added in the last decade or so.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The original course of the old Lewes-East Grinstead road which was moved in the late 18th centuries to follow the current course taken by the A275. The movement was due to Chailey Potteries which occupied the site to the left from the 1740s to the Second World War. Part of the site is still a brickworks to the north but since the 1950s the old potteries site has been built over. The white house on the immediate left is Owlswick whilst that beyond with the roofers working on it is Brickyard House.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The name of the field according to Barcombe's 1839 tithe map viewed from Long Wood. The name probably derives from the fact that the field was the one that was the furthest distance from its home farm.
