Dist:0.2km<br/>The 16.5 MW station is just operational, burning rubbish. Operated by Veolia, their latest progress bulletin says that any plume from the stacks is steam and not pollution. However, having studied the plume from various angles, there is quite definitely solid matter in it, although admittedly not much.

Dist:0.2km<br/>In the foreground is an ingenious bird scarer which is basically a kite on the end of a wire. As you can see the kite looks very much like a hawk. (It certainly fooled me!) The radio mast on the horizon is above Newhaven at [[TQ4402]]

Dist:0.2km<br/>The middle set of cottages were built during the late 1890s and the other set at either end were completed by 1910. Up until the early 1980s this was the northern end of New Road which joined Avis Road at this point, however, it was closed off at the western end and a new wider road built to the rear of the cottages which is now the course of the A26.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Looking across to the new incinerator which is currently undergoing tests before becoming operational. The facility was given planning permission back in 2007 much to the anger of the majority of the local residents who opposed it. The land in the foreground was once [[123547]] but is being landscaped into a large car park come delivery area for the waste which will burnt here.
