Dist:0.2km north<br/>Old Beeches in pasture land; because their shallow roots are close to the surface here this is a good place to find interesting fungi in late summer and autumn.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>This section of Shaw lane crosses the wooded valley of Longwood Brook. The York stone sets are a testimony to the skill of former highway engineers. Whilst the lower section of the lane, just visible round the bend and constructed in stone macadam has been washed away by flowing water, at this point the surface of the lane is as good as the day it was built,

Dist:0.4km north<br/>This was constructed in the early 19C in conjunction with the water supply reservoirs up the hillside to the SW. Its function is to store stream-water so as to maintain a steady flow throughout the year. This was particularly important when there were several mills downstream in the valley. The houses in the distance are on Lamb Hall Road (SE1017).

Dist:0.4km north<br/>This causeway cuts across the upper part of the reservoir in a smooth curve. It was probably constructed to maintain the old access lane to Leys Farm; a mere footpath would surely have been diverted around the head of the reservoir? The houses in the distances are on Lamb Hall Road.
