Dist:0.2km<br/>From the name I assume that this was a farmstead made by clearing woodland in the medieval or early modern period. There is very little of the buildings left now.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This section of Shaw lane crosses the wooded valley of Longwood Brook. The York stone sets are a testimony to the skill of former highway engineers. Whilst the lower section of the lane, just visible round the bend and constructed in stone macadam has been washed away by flowing water, at this point the surface of the lane is as good as the day it was built,
