Dist:0.4km<br/>Horseshoes normally come in sets of four, but it is suggested that those horses being brought to the farrier's near the village inn of this name would normally have been going there because they were minus one shoe. The real explanation of the name has more to do with heraldry, referring to the Worshipful Company of Farriers (1673) and to the Ferrers family, earls of Derby.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Grade II* listed structure and scheduled ancient monument on the corner of School Lane and London Road. A heavy 14th century base carved with beasts on the angles and the Evangelists on the faces, with about a metre of chamfered shaft.
